6 Lamartine Street, Jackson Square

The first phase of several new buildings bring mixed income housing to the Mildred Hailey community. It features a new Community Center, Innovation Center, and a outdoor plaza that connects the site with the Jackson Square playground and community assets.

“Graffiti...for postive expression…”

This original aerosol mural explores the meaning of home through the ideas of Mildred Hailey’s youngest community members. Gathering in a patch of grass among the critters along the Southwest Corridor Park, old notions mix with new ones, inhabitants with visitors, and real homes with imagined.

Hyper-local artists have a head start in understanding the narratives that are meaningful to this community. Born and raised in Boston, “Sobek” works to elevate graffiti, originally a form of rebellion, to an art form used by inner-city communities for positive expression.
